2008 Giro - Stage 6

I haven't yet watched the stage today with filing wrap ups needing to be done here at work but it read pretty exciting amongst the break away. Not sure what the peloton was thinking/doing letting a 14 minute lead go and then not going after it sooner. Some things I don't get but that's also why racing is so fun to watch. I love it when break aways make it normally (ie - ToM-Stg2 with George, Will, Meatball and then in the Vuelta-Stg 14 with Christian and JMac) and didn't mind seeing this one make it with Maggy in it. BUT - I didn't like the huge time gaps there were not only from the break to the peloton but then with in the main group too. I realize mountains change a lot and TT's do too but really, 10+ minutes. Ouch.

I'm heading out here in a very short bit and will be watching as-live and highlights tonight. Should be good. Then tomorrow it's all on watching from home. Should be fun having both the home and work laptops up and running. Woo hoo! :-) And, now hours later, I have to say today's stage was enjoyable to watch. I loved seeing JMac with some attacking towards the end. I also have to link one of my favorite reads on Maggy, as that man can descend with the very best of them! You go Maggy!!!

I was here, but my brain is dead today so I haven't much to say. Maybe later when I wake up.

You know what, I too was wondering why they let that break get so far away. Even after today's climbs the same Quick Step rider, with no real hope of overall GC, is still in pink. Might I add, through now small effort on the part of Bettini. But I think it is still way to early in this race to worry about a TdG scenario or something. So long as there are race radios and calculators, the guys in the cars will (should) know what to do.

Hi Erik :-) Couldn't agree more that it's too early to read too much into breaks. There's lots of climbing to come with some good TTing to be done. Still surprised though that such huge gaps happened. Today's climbing was fun to watch and tomorrow's stage should be good too.

GG you need another mental health day!!! Come on down! I'm off to cut the grass and then read up on Picardie. Will emailed this morning and he finished in the main group with Mike. Hoping that the knee is better. I still cringe looking at the pic.

Thanks, but I got to close the month and that won't happen without me. Enjoy being outside we went to lunch and it was so nice!

I hope Saturday and Sunday are just as nice.
