Rest Day

Being a rest day, one would think it would be a quiet relaxing day right - for riders and fans?!? I think I've spent more time trying to find things to read than any other day the past two weeks. More so just because I have the time today which hasn't been the case recently. Work at this moment is in a waiting period, something I haven't seen since I came into this department last summer, so not having 20 things to do at the same time, is new for me. I'm much better with a slightly over loaded to do list than one with just a little on it. Not complaining though, just need to soak it up for a week or two. :-)

Today we did a lot of chatting. You know the guys are hunting for chatter when they bring up cycling with me. Not that they don't respect the sport and the guys but it is just not something they are really into. I guess by that point we covered baseball, the guy attacked by a bear, and the things done on the weekend though and cycling was something they knew they could pull me directly into and pull me away from attempting to work. And that they did. It was a fun conversation. FoodWhore used to cycle about 4000 miles a year so he is up on the sport just not present riders. He was asking about our young guys and I have to say I enjoyed telling them about Taylor Phinney and Danny Summerhill. If you have others to keep an eye on, please share. :-)

After that fun chatter we realized our wiffle ball guys were back on the roof. We of course sat and joked around with that for a bit. Today the ball did go over the side which was pretty damn funny. The wind pushed it in a floor down so they just had to hope through to get it. Pretty entertaining stuff. The group has gotten bigger too. Last Thursday it was maybe 4 guys. Today they had 6-7. Enough to play teams. We're wondering what company they work for over there. :-) By then our boss showed up and we're now bugging him for Cubs skybox seats. He was like, I may only be able to get a day game and we all started laughing. Yeah, that would be a real shame to have to go during the day. It will be sweet if we get to go. :-)

In my hunt for good reads, I searched for Catalunya stuff this AM. Thankfully more things were found later in the day. No video that I could see anywhere. Some Catalunya reads:
PEZ_Jered: EuroTrash Monday!
PC_Ursula: Volta a Catalunya Preview-Dead Race Walking?
VN: Hushovd nails prologue at Volta a Catalunya
Slipstream:
Solid start to "hometown" race
Slipstream_Lucas: The value of a single minute
TeamCSC:
Hushovd in Yellow
CN:
Hushovd smashes prologue
CN: Time Trialers eyeing overall

Here are some other reads from today -
Slipstream_CVV: Rest day, relatively speaking
VN_Fresh Korn Diary: (Slip) Stream of consciousness - What goes through the head of a pro cyclist in a five-hour race? (pretty funny stuff)
Slipstream: IRR-Tyler recovering from parotitis
VN: Giro: All eyes turn to Kloden
VN: Injured reserves: Slipstream's Zabriskie, Duggan play the waiting game

With having some actual "free time" today, I was also able to find some write ups on the guys here in the states too. So many really good guys to read up on. Make sure to read through the blogs too as many write a day or two after stages and Arkansas and Mt Hood had some good stuff going on.
PPOL: TeamType1's Chadwick Wins Tour of Arkansas
CN: ToA-Huff wins crit; Chadwick dedicates victory to his family
TeamType1: Chadwick Wins Tour of Arkansas

If you like Chris Horner like I do, check out the Two Johns Podcast with him. It's part one of two.

Good to hear work is calmer for you know. It is for me too. I am actually going to try to take a half day Friday!!!

Let me know what you think of that treatment for my baby. She was your baby to so I am really interested in your opinion of the options.

Hey - I just read up on it (could be her on that homepage). I think that is a smart way to go. Can't see giving a cat 3 pills a day. Have you not read the hilarious email jokes on that? Let me know what you and John decide but I'm thinking it sounds like the best option.

We have decided that this is the best option. I think if Littlefoot could talk she would choose this option herself. I will keep you updated.

What email jokes?
